Kali dal, also known as black lentil, is a popular dish in Pakistani cuisine. Here’s a recipe for kali dal:

Ingredients for Kali Dal Recipe Pakistani:

1 cup kali dal (black lentil)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
Salt to taste
3 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

Rinse the kali dal and chana dal in water and soak them in enough water for at least 30 minutes. Drain the water and set aside.

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, 3 cups of water, and salt. Pressure cook for about 20-25 minutes or until the dal is soft and mushy.

In a separate pan, heat the ghee and add cumin seeds. Once they start to sizzle, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Add paste of ginger garlic

Put chopped tomatoes in a cooking pan & cook until it turn paste.

Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder. Cook the spices for a minute.

Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Adjust salt as per taste.

Cook the dal for about 10-15 minutes or until it thickens.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
