Smashed Burger Recipe

Smashed burgers are a popular type of burger where the patty is smashed down onto the cooking surface, creating a crispy exterior and juicy interior. Here’s a recipe to make your own smashed burgers at home:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)
  • Condiments of your choice (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, etc.)
  • Butter for the buns

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into balls. Do not overwork the meat.
  2. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Season the balls with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Melt a small amount of butter on the skillet or griddle and place the balls on it, leaving enough space between them. Using a spatula or a flat object, firmly press down on each ball to smash them into thin patties.
  4. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they’re well-browned and crispy on the outside. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last 30 seconds of cooking.
  5. While the patties are cooking, butter the buns and toast them on the skillet or griddle until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers with the toasted buns, patties, and toppings of your choice. Serve with your favorite condiments.

Enjoy your delicious smashed burgers!
