Smashed Burger Recipe
Smashed burgers are a popular type of burger where the patty is smashed down onto the cooking surface, creating a crispy exterior and juicy interior. Here’s a recipe to make your own smashed burgers at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- Salt and pepper
- 4 burger buns
- Cheese slices (optional)
- Toppings of your choice (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)
- Condiments of your choice (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, etc.)
- Butter for the buns
Instructions:
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into balls. Do not overwork the meat.
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Season the balls with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Melt a small amount of butter on the skillet or griddle and place the balls on it, leaving enough space between them. Using a spatula or a flat object, firmly press down on each ball to smash them into thin patties.
- Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they’re well-browned and crispy on the outside. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last 30 seconds of cooking.
- While the patties are cooking, butter the buns and toast them on the skillet or griddle until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers with the toasted buns, patties, and toppings of your choice. Serve with your favorite condiments.
Enjoy your delicious smashed burgers!
