Why My Fridge is Always Stocked with Frozen Parathas

No matter how much the world changes, some things remain constant—like a piping hot, crispy paratha for breakfast.

I remember when I was a child, the aroma of my Nani’s (grandmother’s) parathas cooking in the kitchen would fill the entire house. Those weren’t just parathas; they were layers of love. I used to watch her in awe, seeing how her “kitchen intuition” allowed her to create dozens of perfect layers in minutes. Today, as a WordPress developer and blogger, my life is much faster than hers was, but my love for that tradition remains.

Why Frozen Parathas?

Between coding, blogging, and managing household responsibilities, kneading dough and setting layers from scratch every single morning can be a challenge. That’s why I found a solution that balances my Nani’s sweetness with today’s digital pace.

On the weekends, I take some quiet time to peacefully prepare a large batch of parathas. Rolling them out, layering them with ghee, and carefully storing them in the freezer gives me a strange sense of calm. The biggest benefits are:

  • Time-Saving: In the morning, I just take them out of the freezer, and breakfast is ready in 2 minutes!

  • That Authentic Taste: My frozen parathas have that home-cooked comfort that you just can’t find in preservative-laden, store-bought versions.

Crispy Parathas: Not Just a Preference, But a Feeling

People often ask me, “Fozia, why do you love such crispy parathas?”

For me, that “crunch” is essential. Without that crackle in the first bite, the experience just isn’t the same. That touch of semolina (sooji) I add to my dough gives every bite an extra crunch. This crispiness reminds me of those childhood mornings when we ate breakfast without a care in the world.

Even today, when I sit in front of my computer screen with a cup of chai in one hand and my homemade crispy lacha paratha in the other—it feels like the day has started exactly right.
